He began his career co-founding SMOKO, an independent music zine and promoter that involved him in DIY communities, shaping his editorial approach; insightful, immersive and authentic.

In 2026, he was named Best Freelance Music Journalist (Northern England) at the SME UK Enterprise Awards.
